Pangarap Lang Kita by Parokya ni Edgar featuring Happee Sy

A Music Video Review
by eturo

Parokya ni Edgar has released Pangarap Lang Kita, a duet with PULP magazine’s Happee Sy. The song is Parokya’s second single off their album Middle Aged Juvenile Novelty Pop Rockers.

The rock group veers away from their usual comic antics in their songs and puts forth a love song. Pangarap Lang Kita has Chito Miranda and Happee Sy giving voices to two people who seem to have given up love for fantasy. The guy thinks he has no hope of getting the girl because he is poor. “Sa TV lang naman kasi may mangyayari, at kahit mahal kita wala akong magagawa”. The girl, on the other hand, is impeded by behavior expected from her as a woman. “Conservative ako kaya di maaari”. (Watch the music video here)

I think, it was the best song in their latest album "Middle-Aged Juvenile Novelty Pop Rockers". What I love about this song is that it is simple and uses two different language: Filipino and Chinese which made this song rock!!

I don't know much about Happee Sy but her voice was just great. And the mix of two dialects was an amazing ideas.

Well, the song was fantastic but the mv turned to be plain.Still, I find this song pretty good.

The Lyrics:

Parokya ni Edgar:

(English translation: Parish of Edgar) is a Filipino band that was formed in 1993 by a group of college students. The band is famous and most lauded for its original rock novelty songs and often satirical covers of popular songs. The band has since transcended musical genres, varying styles from one song to another - alternative rock to pop rock, funk to rapcore, and so on - while providing comic relief to their listeners. Despite having "Edgar" in the band's name, none of the members go by it.

Happee Sy:

She's in PULP magazine.
